American Cancer Society Relay for Life Team Semtech Recycles to Raise Funds for Camarillo Overnight Walk on June 29, 2013
Relay for Life Team Semtech is recycling inkjets, cell phones and small e-waste with Planet Green Recycle to raise funds for the American Cancer Society Camarillo, California overnight walk this June.
Chatsworth, CA (PRWEB) May 29, 2013
Debbie Schector and her coworkers at Semtech signed up for the Planet Green Recycle Program in September 2012 to raise funds by recycling. They collect inkjets, cell phones and other small electronics as a way to raise funds for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Camarillo overnight walk. The walk will be taking place on June 29th, 2013 beginning at Camarillo High School. Relay for Life of Camarillo has already raised over $30,000 with 34 teams and 252 participants.
The way that Team Semtech has helped in this effort is by gathering inkjets and other electronics throughout the whole year leading up to the Relay for Life walk. Debbie realized that the Planet Green Recycle Program was a perfect fit: her team will raise funds and at the same time help keep electronics out of landfills.
The American Cancer Society Relay for Life Camarillo is an organized, overnight community fundraising walk. ACS is a non-profit organization that raises much needed funds to spread awareness to save lives from cancer and to provide services to those people fighting cancer.
Team Semtech hosts several kinds of fundraisers prior to the big overnight event. Schector explains, “We like to vary the types of fundraisers we have, and to find unique ways to raise money without always asking directly for cash.”
When asked how her team has encouraged others to support their effort, Schector said, “Our Relay for Life team is a corporate team based in Camarillo and the company we work for is very sensitive to being environmentally responsible.” Schector continues, “We start spreading the word internally at work a few weeks before our big recycle event. Our Relay for Life community has meetings at least once a month during the entire year and we are constantly reminding all the other teams to collect the items.”
