Chapel Hill, NC Home Care Firm Receives Trademark for its Proprietary Sharing while CaringTM Elder Care Philosophy. Sharing while CaringTM Proactively Involves Seniors in Care Activities to Help Them Feel Engaged, Valuable and Productive.

Chapel HIll, NC (PRWEB) June 13, 2013

The US Patent and Trademark Office awarded trademark status to Acorn Home Care Services, Inc. for its Sharing while CaringTM approach to senior care.

Sharing while CaringTM is a proprietary philosophy of care for elders based on the concept that the care process should be as interactive as possible. Involving seniors in care activities helps them remain engaged and provides stimulation for their minds and bodies.

Sharing while CaringTM was developed by Lorenzo Mejia, co-founder of Acorn, based on the experiences he had caring for his mother. Mejia is a Qualified Dementia Care Specialist sanctioned by the Alzheimer´s Foundation of America.

“We are delighted to receive trademark status”, commented Mejia. “When we care for our elders, it may seem easier to do everything for them. But that may be a mistake. With patience and creativity, caregivers can come up with a variety of ways in which the senior can participate in everyday tasks. This allows them to feel valuable and productive.

Mejia added, “Many seniors are at a stage in their lives where their children are telling them what to do, which can be humiliating. The Sharing while CaringTM approach recognizes their value as humans and protects, as much as possible, their ability to contribute. Sharing while CaringTM is part of a broader movement within the elder care industry to make the care experience more rewarding and focused on the individual.”
