Just Three Days Until ACUVUE® Brand Contacts Are Discontinued for Good

June 29, 2013

With three days until Acuvue brand contacts are becoming discontinued, Clecontactlenses.com is urging patients to stock up on their preferred contact lenses.

(PRWEB) June 29, 2013

Vistakon, a divison of the Johnson and Johnson Care, Inc., announced that they would be discontinuing three of it's older brands in 2013. ACUVUE® Brand Contact lenses, the product that revolutionized the industry in 1987, will no longer be available in select base curves and parameters in the U.S. as of July 1, 2013. All 9.1 base curves and 8.4 and 8.8 base curves of parameters from -6.50 to -11.0 are being discontinued. Products with 8.4 and 8.8 base curves and parameters ranging from -0.50 to -6.00 will continue to be available. All parameters of ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses BIFOCAL and ACUVUE® 2® COLOURS® Brand Contact Lenses will be discontinued as of December 31, 2013. – Read the full press release here – From Feb 28, 2013

Eyecare Associates LLC. has been a licensed retailer of Acuvue brand contact lenses for over 14 years online, and will continue to sell them right up to the final discontinuation date in 3 days. They are urging patients to seek their optometrists to discuss further options about their contact lenses. Many of the customers at Clecontactlenses.com (an Eyecare Associates LLC brand) have been less than thrilled with the discontinuation of the acuvue lenses.

"I've been using the Acuvue brand contacts for years now, and all of a sudden I have to change my prescription. I hate when companies do stuff like this" – an annoyed customer from Clecontactlenses.

Eyecare Associates is telling patients to stock up now on their favorite contact lenses before they run out indefinitely.

Acuvue is making this change to push customers to the new, and more specialized contact lens brands they currently have in the market. (Acuvue Oasys, Acuvue Advance, 1-Day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism)

For those who aren't familiar with Clecontactlenses, they have been frequently keeping their customers and the public updated with information of the recent discontinuations since early march. A series of blog posts was published (which can be seen here) that highlights the story.

Clecontactlenses is one of the few online retailers of contact lenses and accessories that provides a 3% discount just for becoming a member of the site. Additionally, they offer a higher % off your total order every time you order. With the price of contact lenses continuing to rise, and insurance policies denying more and more people proper eye care, discounts like these can never be over looked.
