La Prima Catering in Willow Grove is Greenest Caterer/Restaurant in Pennsylvania

La Prima’s Willow Grove kitchen is the highest ranked caterer – and overall food service establishment — in the state of Pennsylvania, based on GRA’s exacting standards.

La Prima Catering, a full-service company offering corporate and special events catering, has earned the prestigious 3-Star Certification from the Green Restaurant Association (GRA). La Prima’s Willow Grove kitchen is the highest ranked caterer – and overall food service establishment — in the state of Pennsylvania, based on GRA’s exacting standards.

The GRA bases its certification on a detailed points system, measuring companies’ sustainable practices in these seven categories: Energy; Food; Water; Waste; Disposables; Chemicals and Waste; and Furniture and Building Materials. La Prima completed 68 steps and scored 208.67 points as part of the GRA certification process.

What sets La Prima Catering above the rest? Purchasing local produce weekly from La Prima’s partner farm; running the kitchen on 100% renewable wind energy credits; transitioning to low-flow faucets; replacing power strips with smart strips to reduce energy use; transitioning to compostable plates and utensils to reduce waste; and instituting a “no idle” policy to reduce CO2 usage.
