FlipOver.org Mobilizes Social Entrepreneurship Through Crowdsourcing Agreement with Indonesia’s Largest Youth Organization

The company has signed a strategic agreement with Karang Taruna, Indonesia’s largest volunteer neighborhood youth organization and recently launched the world’s first social GPS network, to help identify social welfare issues around the globe.

Mobilize your solidarity, FlipOver.org today announced a strategic agreement (MoU) with Karang Taruna, the largest non-profit youth organization in Indonesia to develop a web platform that will connect local neighborhood entrepreneurs to the global crowdsourcing community. The company also recently launched the world’s first social GPS network to identify social challenges on a global scale.

Through its agreement with Karang Taruna, FlipOver.org takes the first major step in expanding its crowdsourcing platform to Southeast Asia. FlipOver.org’s vision is to flip social challenges over to individuals and empower change by building a global network of social entrepreneurs that use crowdsourcing to co-design solutions and change what matters.

Started in Jakarta in 1960, Karang Taruna is one of the world’s largest voluntary neighborhood youth organizations, with over 10 million active members. Karang Taruna is established in both urban and rural areas spanning across 75,000 small towns, 5,000 districts, 500 cities and 33 provinces. In Indonesia there are over 250 million inhabitants, with more than half the population under 30 years old. Indonesia has the world’s fourth largest population on Facebook, with 64 million active users and 109 percent mobile penetration. Jakarta is also the world’s most active city on Twitter.

A GPS for Social Impact: Identify Needs, Design Solutions, Change What Matters

Launched only six months ago in Bilbao, Spain, FlipOver.org has developed the world’s first Social GPS. Social GPS will serve to identify community issues including the need to support healthcare, social welfare, education, the environment, animal protection and development. Using its online website anyone in the world can report a need for change. Reports are verified through news sources and loaded to the Social GPS database where information is tagged, categorized and measured using advanced semantics. FlipOver.org seeks to generate the most comprehensive online database of social needs, in order to create greater awareness about the world’s biggest challenges.
