New York, NY (PRWEB) August 06, 2013
Bernstein Liebhard LLP continues to monitor the progress of Stryker hip lawsuits (http://www.stryker-rejuvenate-hip-recall-lawsuit.com) filed in state and federal courts following last year’s recall of Rejuvenate and ABG II Modular Neck Hip Stems. According to court documents, the judge overseeing the Stryker hip recall litigation underway in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court has issued a Stipulated Protective Order of Confidentiality that is intended to facilitate prompt discovery and trial preparation of Stryker hip lawsuits. The Order, dated August 2, 2013, will govern any and all hard copy and electronic materials produced by any party to the litigation. “We are pleased to see discovery moving forward, as we represent numerous Stryker hip recall clients in this proceeding. Our Firm continues to hear from individuals who have suffered severe complications, some of which required revision surgery, allegedly due to the Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm continues to offer free legal evaluations to individuals who have allegedly suffered serious complications that may be associated with the Stryker recall for Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems.
Stryker Hip Lawsuits
According to court documents, at least 273 Stryker hip lawsuits have been filed in New Jersey on behalf of Rejuvenate and ABG II recipients who allegedly suffered metallosis, necrosis, osteolysis, and other complications due to the propensity of the Rejuvenate and ABG II stems to fret and corrode at the modular neck junction. Court records also indicate that at least 159 similar complaints filed in the wake of the Stryker hip recall are pending in a federal multidistrict litigation underway in U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota. (In re: Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2441)
The Stryker hip recall was announced in July 2012, after post-market surveillance data indicated the Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems could cause patients to suffer pain, swelling, adverse local tissue reactions, and ultimately failure of their hip, due to fretting and corrosion at the modular neck junction. After it learned that some asymptomatic Stryker hip patients had developed adverse tissue reactions, Stryker advised all recipients of Rejuvenate or ABG II stems to undergo medical screening regardless of symptoms to ensure their hip components are working properly.*
Individuals who suffered serious complications allegedly due to the recalled Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
