How to Use a Proxy Server to Unblock Sites or Change IP Address
idcloak publishes How to Use a Proxy Server, a new article which introduces users to web proxies and VPNs, explaining the functions and limitations of each.
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) September 08, 2013
idcloak offers a simple introduction to proxy usage in its new article How to Use a Proxy Server – the fourth piece in an educational series about anonymous internet services. The publication is part of a concerted push by idcloak’s marketing team to educate the public on proxies and their uses.
“The potential consumer population for proxies is still nowhere near its peak,” says idcloak’s Director of Marketing, Gill-Chris Welles. “There is still a majority section of internet users who do not even know what a proxy is. Occasionally proxies feature in the press but very rarely as consumer products: the technology is being misrepresented as tools of hackers and political activists."
“To be successful, we proxy providers must educate a ‘new’ consumer base. The alternative is fighting for scraps in the old.”
The How-to article begins with an introduction to the website proxy, which essentially creates “an anonymous browser within a browser.” It goes on to point out that any device or operating system may access this form of web proxy and explains in simple terms how a user deploys the service.
The practical limitations are then presented: that although a web proxy is an adequate anonymization service for browser-based activity, it does not support other internet applications such as iTunes, Torrents, IM or Skype.
The article concludes by directing the reader to an anonymous VPN for those occasions when the user requires complete proxy protection on all internet-accessing programs.
A total of 900 other educational articles populate the Knowledge Center on idcloak.com, covering hot topics such as security, privacy and freedom online. “We are proud to offer the widest library of information on VPN and proxy-related matters anywhere on the web,” says Welles.
As an advocate of privacy and freedom online, idcloak Technologies Inc. is a forward-thinking developer of proxy anonymity and security services. To learn more, visit idcloak.com.
