“Leading Edge” with Host Jimmy Johnson Explores the Benefits of Acupuncture

October 3, 2013

Integration of Eastern and Western Medicine May Yield Results

(PRWEB) October 03, 2013

Each year, millions of Americans are affected by chronic pain. This pain can be the result of many differing catalysts, such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, or a lingering injury. The vast majority of those who suffer from these pains have very few options for treatment, leading to situations in which they manage the pain through pharmaceuticals. While this method has proven to be effective if properly applied, the overdependence on drugs has led to mismanagement and addiction in many cases.

Acupuncture is now utilized more than ever in an effort to curb chronic pain regardless of where that pain stems from. This ancient art of muscle and body stimulation, through the application of small needles into the tissue, has now been embraced by both the medical community and patients alike. While drugs and other pain management methods can be utilized, the integration of those techniques with acupuncture has proven to be effective and healthier for the patient.

Jimmy Johnson and “The Leading Edge” series will be featuring medical professionals and acupuncturists who can educate about this integrated approach, and reveal their own experiences. With segments created specifically for Public Television, “Leading Edge” can help put patients in the best possible position to make determinations about their own healthcare and pain management.

“Leading Edge” isn’t affiliated with or distributed through PBS. The segments are provided to Public Television stations directly. For more information, please visit http://www.leadingedgeseries.com, or email info(at)leadingedgeseries(dot)com.
