Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge World Challenge XXII Comes to Las Vegas, Nevada

Firefighters from around the world will be at the Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower to compete in the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge World Challenge XXII; this is a physical endurance competition to promote fitness within the firefighter community. This is a unique and great event for the entire family to come and enjoy.

We are proud to announce the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge will be coming to the area next week. The event is being offered to promote the physical fitness of firefighters and is the last stop on the 2013 tour. Firefighters from around the world will be competing for the World Championship Title. We are expecting competitors from Canada, Germany, New Zealand, Poland and Slovenia.

While you must be a firefighter to take part in the competition, the public is encouraged to come and watch as the participants navigate the Challenge course or “The toughest two minutes in sports,” as it’s frequently known.

The Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge World Challenge XXII will be held at the Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower located on the Las Vegas Strip. The Wildcard days run Tuesday, October 22nd through Friday, October 25th from 9am-4pm. Individual and Team Finals begin Saturday, October 26th at 11am. Tandem and Relay Finals begin Sunday, October 27th at 9am.

Firefighters competing in World Challenge XXII will be competing in a five-evolution event, which includes a 5-story tower climb with high-rise pack, hose hoist, forcible entry, hose advance, and victim rescue. Also, there will be a Kids’ Firefighter Challenge that targets youth from ages 4 to 11 and is­ a miniaturized version of its adult counterpart. The Kids’ Challenge is an exciting adventure for any child who ever wanted to put on some fire gear and squirt a fire hose.

The Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge was founded 20 years ago by Dr. Paul Davis as a physical fitness research project at the University of Maryland. The Challenge is based out of Burtonsville, Maryland and maintains a goal of promoting fitness within the first responder community.
