The Discovery House was a co-sponsor of the San Fernando Valley Chapter of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (SFV-CAMFT) event. The annual board member installation event, which took place on Jan. 19, 2014, was held at the Woodland Hills Country Club, in Woodland Hills, Calif.
The event brought together marriage and family therapists and other experts in the field to network and grow in their professional development. This year's theme was "Reviving Rhythm for the Mind, Body, and Soul," and featured guest speaker Christine Stevens. Participants had the opportunity to join in a "soulful, connected and transformative drum circle experience that inspired and rejuvenated." Christine Stevens, MSW, MT-BC, MA, holds masters degrees in both social work and music therapy. She is author of the new book, ”Music Medicine, the Science and Spirit of Healing Yourself with Sound,” and also ”The Healing Drum Kit.”
According to CAMFT's website, it is "dedicated to inspiring psychotherapists through educational opportunities, networking and support in order to better serve the community where we practice and live. We are a thriving professional organization of successful licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, interns and trainees who generously share their experience and expertise to support each other’s growth and professional development."
