Superheroes Rise Up Against Bullying at Local Stunt Show
Intrepid Air & Space Museum and Characters for Hire stunt show helps children and parents understand the impact of bullying.

Looking for a great way to keep your kids entertained and teach them an important lesson at the same time? Then head over to the Intrepid Air & Space Museum on Monday, Feb. 17, for the Anti-Bullying Stunt Show extravaganza, a Hollywood-style show designed to be enjoyable for kids and their parents.
The stunt show is being performed by Characters for Hire, an entertainment group that specializes in using entertainment to educate audiences, and will feature five superheroes who will engage the audience with choreographed stunts, dazzling costumes, music, dance, and an anti-bullying dialogue about what it means to be a hero.
Nick Sarelli, the event’s producer, says he developed the Anti-Bullying Stunt Show to reach children who may already be the victims of bullying, and to remind parents of the critical role they play in helping their child deal with bullying whenever and wherever they encounter it.
“Parents need to be actively involved in their child’s life and be a role model,” Sarelli said. “If they receive a report from the school or other parents, adults or children, or if they see signs that their child is engaging in bullying activities or may be the victim of bullying, it’s their responsibility to take action. Although it may seem like the easier route to ignore a call from the principal’s office, they owe it to their child and their child’s peers to take steps to correct the situation or to reach out and get the help their child needs.”
Incidents of bullying – face-to-face, online and via texting – have risen rapidly in recent years, and many schools, police departments and other groups have developed anti-bullying campaigns to educate children and their parents about the dangers of peer abuse. Sarelli said the Characters for Hire anti-bullying show was created in the wake of the death of an area teen who committed suicide.
“That had a really big impact on me and my family and friends, and it made me realize how important it is to instill the values of compassion and justice while children are still young,” he said. “As they grow older, children are often more likely to succumb to peer and societal pressures, and it can become much more difficult to teach them these important life lessons.”
Characters for Hire specializes in authentic costumed entertainment for private parties and corporate entertainment planning. The company relies on the creative talents of 300 professionally trained actors to create more than 1,000 characters who perform combative stunts, acrobatic performances, musical dance shows, super hero events, educational programs, musical dance shows and more.
