Water is a primary necessity everywhere you turn. Its essentiality cannot be bound by anything regardless of the magnitude. For it to be fully helpful to your health, you must take precautionary and preventive measures while using it. That is why water treatment is important. This is especially when the water is intended for sensitive purposes like drinking.

There are different water sources relied upon to supply humans and the other organisms with adequate water. Each of the sources varies in their chemical makeup, which results in different levels of water purity. There are plenty of contaminants in the water that may be a health hazard.

Water purification aims at getting rid of microbiological organisms that include viruses and bacteria. This is crucial in avoiding waterborne diseases, thereby preventing their outbreak. There are various methods of water treatment, and are distinguished by how they are carried out. Some of these include distillation, reverse osmosis, and UV treatment.

The Leading Edge, with its host Jimmy Johnson, will be airing a special segment with a focus on water. The educative program will look at the importance of this practice, how it is carried out, and give a detailed view of the different methods used in water treatment. You can be part of this program that seeks to enlighten the masses on this issue of great significance.

The series is distributed to Public Television stations throughout the United States and is not distributed through PBS. Please visit the Leading Edge website at http://www.leadingedgeseries.com or email the producers at info(at)leadingedgeseries(dot)com for more information.
