Crohn’s/Colitis Patient Advocate to Address HMHP Ostomy Group

February 27, 2014

Advocate will discuss free programs that help patients better understand and manage their disease.

Youngstown, Ohio (PRWEB) February 27, 2014

Tara Bertini, R.N., B.S., an advocate for patients with Crohn’s disease and/or Colitis, will address the Youngstown Area Ostomy Support Group March 11.

Bertini will discuss the free patient advocate programs provided by AbbVie, a global, research-based biopharmaceutical company.

The goal of the patient advocate programs, Bertini says, is to help patients better understand and manage their disease by providing education, resources and support. Patient advocates work with patients one-on-one, providing access to information, helping them develop good communication with their doctors, and suggesting tools they can use to track symptoms. Advocates also identify resources that can benefit patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

The Youngstown Area Ostomy Support Group, sponsored by Humility of Mary Health Partners, will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Humility House, 755 Ohltown Road, Austintown.

The group provides information and encouragement to individuals who have or will have ostomies.

The meeting is free and open to ostomy patients, families and friends. Refreshments are provided and parking is free. For information, call 330.480.3440.

The Youngstown Area Ostomy Support Group meets once a month March through December.
