An individual who is struggling with the problem of substance abuse often knows, at least on some level, that they have a problem that must be resolved. For the substance abuser who has lost everything and “hit bottom” they often feel trapped and hopeless, their every thought and action controlled by drugs. In this condition, a substance abuser desires help in resolving their problems with addiction so that they can regain control of their life. Not one individual would say that they desire to only gain sobriety for a week, a month or even a few years before returning to the quicksand that is substance abuse. They desire to be completely rid of drugs and the influences and effects drugs have on their life. They want the self-confidence, the courage and the certainty that they know they will need to move forward into a happy, prosperous, drug-free life.
The Goal of The Narconon Arrowhead Program
As part of its overall goal of complete rehabilitation, the Narconon program seeks to assist individuals in withdrawing from the use of drugs. While this is an important step, it is only a first step in the direction of resolving substance abuse. In order to reduce or even eliminate drug cravings and thereby prevent future relapses, the Narconon program also includes a physical detoxification section. Many individuals who complete the detoxification portion of the program find that their mental and physical health has improved remarkably. This is also an important step, but by itself does not bring about a full rehabilitation in the individual.
Substance abuse begins when an individual seeks to suppress a problem in their life. The Narconon program helps individuals discover and handle the underlying reason for their initial drug use, allowing them to take responsibility for their actions. In so doing, many individuals discover that they lose all interest in drugs and what they may appear to offer.
Now that the individual has resolved the physical effects of drug use as well as the underlying reason for their initial drug use, they can address their present life and prepare for the future. The Narconon program includes a series of life skills courses that are designed to give the individual the tools they need to confidently move forward into a healthy, happy, prosperous future.
By the time an individual reaches program graduation, they have resolved all of the effects of drug use and are fully prepared to return to society without the threat of future drug use hanging over their head.
A Decade of Sobriety
Kelly had been trapped in the downward spiral of addiction for so many years of her life that she lost all hope that she would ever be able to live drug-free. She had spent more time in jail than she could count, and had attended several different rehabilitation programs without lasting success. Her family felt almost as helpless as Kelly herself did, and enrolled her in the Narconon program as a last attempt to save their loved one from the downward spiral of drug abuse. Kelly began her Narconon program in 2002, and to her great relief, her life has never been the same since.
Kelly quickly discovered that the Narconon program was entirely different from any other rehabilitation treatment she has previously participated in. Narconon presented a unique perspective to the problem of substance abuse, and Kelly discovered that this made sense to her in a way that prior treatment never had. She loved the way the program helped her restore her faith and self-confidence, instead of making her feel guilty and embarrassed about her drug use.
As Kelly made her way through her program she began to look at herself differently, and one day she finally realized that she is a great person, worthy of experiencing love and a happy, prosperous life. She restored a healthy relationship with her family members, earning their trust and love through hard work and good communication.
The life skills that Kelly learned at Narconon Arrowhead improved her life in more ways than she could’ve even imagined. Kelly feels that Narconon Arrowhead saved her life and has saved thousands of others’ lives. Having now celebrated a full decade of sobriety, Kelly is a valuable, contributing member of society and very happy in her life.
