Microbac Adopts Invisible Sentinel Inc.’s Veriflow® Diagnostic Technology for Detection of Bacterial Pathogens in Food
The rapid diagnostic tool will soon be available at laboratories across the country.
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) June 23, 2014
Microbac Laboratories, Inc. has announced that the company has adopted Invisible Sentinel Inc.’s Veriflow® diagnostic technology for detection of bacterial pathogens in food.
The adoption of Invisible Sentinel’s entire suite of Veriflow® assays by Microbac follows a period of validation studies at selected Microbac laboratories. The assays were validated for various environmental surfaces and food products, including specialized foods such as confectionary products.
“We have found Veriflow® to be an accurate and reliable technology that offers the advantages of a molecular method with the efficiency of earlier-generation tests,” said Brad Stawick, Microbac’s Corporate Director of Microbiology. “The addition of Veriflow® assays to our capabilities will help us to assess potential food issues accurately and promptly.”
The Veriflow® product line has been approved by the AOAC International, a global standardization organization, to detect bacterial contamination in a wide variety of food types and on various environmental surfaces. The product line for food testing consists of Veriflow® SS, for Salmonella species; Veriflow® LS, for Listeria species; Veriflow® CA, for Campylobacter; and Veriflow® LM, for Listeria monocytogenes. Also available is Veriflow® BRETT, to determine levels of Brettanomyces in wine.
“We’re delighted to work with Microbac to offer the advantages of Veriflow® technology to Microbac’s clientele,” said Nick Siciliano, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Invisible Sentinel. “Invisible Sentinel and Microbac both understand the role that advanced technology can play to meet the more stringent demands being made of the food industry for accurate and prompt testing to protect against foodborne pathogens.”

About Invisible Sentinel
Invisible Sentinel develops diagnostic technologies for multiple industries. The company focuses on developing rapid diagnostics that quickly provide accurate information about the presence of specific microorganisms. Its first-in-class patented technology, produced under good manufacturing practices, provides the same data as the U.S. Department of Agriculture reference methods but minimizes the time, reduces the cost, and lowers the overhead associated with conventional diagnostics. The food and beverage industries have been the first the company has served, but its platform technology has the potential to provide valuable tools for additional industries including healthcare, veterinary services, biodefense, and environmental testing, where rapid detection of target analytes from unrefined samples is critical. Uniquely designed for easy, practical use, Invisible Sentinel’s proprietary diagnostic products promise to create a new standard for rigorous quality control.
