U.S. Marine Accused of Rape on Okinawa

Japanese authorities said Monday they detained a U.S. Marine stationed in Okinawa in a reported rape of a 14-year-old Japanese girl.
U.S. Marine Staff Sgt. Tyrone Luther Hadnott, 38, has denied raping the junior high school student, telling authorities he kissed her only, CNN reported. Authorities haven't charged Hadnott with the crime; under Japanese law, a person can be detained up to 10 days without being charged.
The U.S. Marine Corps in a statement acknowledged the detention but didn't mention Hadnott. The statement said the corps was investigating the incident.
The Japanese Foreign Ministry said it lodged an official protest with the United States.
The incident was reported Sunday in the Chanton entertainment district on Okinawa, CNN said.
This type of crime violates the human rights of women. And taking the fact that the victim was a junior high school student, this kind of crime cannot be tolerated, Okinawa Gov. Hirokazu Nakaima said in a statement.
The matter sparked a protest Monday by a small group outside of the building where Hadnott was being held.

Posted by Texasman on 02/19/2008, 15:40 You have to remember that these men are not doing this on behalf of the US Military, they are acting on their own will on their own (Liberty) time. These men would probably perform these acts no matter where in the world they are. It has nothing to do with the victors taking it out on their former foes. It all has to do with this one individuals sick and twisted desires, period. |

WWII ended over a half-century ago, but the U.S. victors are still taking it out on their former foes - but raping a 14 year old (IT WAS A 12-YEAR OLD THE LAST TIME) is certainly nothing less than the lowest form of depravity. |
