:: PAKISTAN

A bomb explosion in an Islamabad restaurant has killed a Turkish woman and injured 11 others, including staff from the British High Commission and the US embassy. The attack on the Italian Luna Caprese restaurant yesterday was thought to be the first in the recent wave of violence across Pakistan to target foreigners. No one has claimed responsibility. The restaurant, which serves alcohol, is popular with diplomats, aid agency workers and journalists. More than 500 have died in Pakistan this year in attacks related to Islamic militants.
