Nadal Beats Federer in Hamburg Final

Rafael Nadal topped Roger Federer in a grueling three-set final Sunday at the Masters Series tennis tournament in Hamburg, Germany.

The scores were 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3.

Nadal bounced back from a 1-5 first set deficit against the defending champion and top seed to get the 26th singles title of his career and his third this season.

Nadal, the second seed, roared back and won the final six games to take the first set.

He won the first two tiebreaker points in the second set before Federer took five straight points to force the decisive third set.

Nadal quickly established dominance in the third set, racing to a 3-1 advantage, and Federer never recovered.

Nadal's triumph was worth a first prize of $560,000.

Federer dropped to 9-1 lifetime in German finals and the loss ended his 41-match winning streak on German soil.
