Karadzic’s Party Says His Trial is “Showdown” With Bosnian Serb Entity
Text of report by Bosnian national public broadcaster BHTV1, on 22 July
[Announcer] The current chairman of the [Bosnian] Serb Democratic Party [SDS], which was founded by Karadzic, Mladen Bosic has also commented on his arrest:
[Bosic] We are surprised that Dr Karadzic was arrested in Belgrade. It is clear that the Serbian nation does not view the Hague tribunal and a trial of Dr Karadzic as the meting out of justice, but in a way as a showdown with the policy that the Serbs pursued at the time.
In the final analysis, as everybody knows that Dr Radovan Karadzic was the first president of the Serb Republic and that he made a huge contribution to the creation of the Serb Republic, this essentially constitutes a showdown with the Serb Republic.
