MLB: Tampa Bay 10, Cleveland 7
Tampa Bay rallied past Cleveland 10-7 Wednesday by scoring six times in the bottom of the ninth inning.
The rays’ rally was capped by Carlos Pena’s three-run homer. His 20th homer this season made him the sixth straight batter to reach base with no one out in the bottom of the ninth and completed Tampa Bay’s comeback from a 7-4 deficit.
Dioner Navarro, Gabe Gross and Evan Longoria all drove in two runs, with Gross hitting a two-run homer in the ninth. Longoria and Jason Bartlett had three hits apiece.
Navarro also belted a two-run homer and Akionori Iwamura added two hits for the Rays, winners in seven of their last eight games.
The winner was closer Troy Percival (2-0).
Cleveland’s Jhonny Peralta had five hits, one a solo homer, and two RBI.
Andy Marte had two hits and two RBI.
Shin-Soo Choo had two hits and one RBI and Franklyn Gutierrez had two hits, one a solo homer, for the Indians.
The losing pitcher was Masahide Kobayashi (4-5).
