Tbilisi, 14 August: The city of Gori, which is located not far from the Georgian-South Ossetian border, is controlled jointly by representatives of the Georgian police and Russian forces, Russian Defence Ministry representative Maj-Gen Vyacheslav Borisov has told Georgian journalists.

In the next two days all posts in the city will be controlled jointly by the Georgian police and Russian troops, after which the Russian troops will leave Gori, he said.”The police have now returned to the city, and all civilians will also be able to return after control is established,” Borisov was quoted as saying.Local residents have begun returning to the city, and there is no serious destruction there, he said.
