TBILISI. Aug 25 (Interfax) – The Russian parliament’s decision on Abkhazia and South Ossetia is an attempt to annex Georgian territories, said Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.

“No one can enact the annexation of our territories,” Saakashvili said at a Georgian government’s meeting in Gori on Monday, commenting on the Russian parliament’s decision to ask the Russian president to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

“Russia decided to reconstruct the Soviet Union within Georgia,” Saakashvili said.

Georgia will oppose these plans by appealing to foreign countries, the president said.

“Our task is to coordinate our actions with international community as much as possible,” he said.
