All Ears on Hillary As DNC's Headliner

Former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner may be the keynote speaker Tuesday during the Democratic National Convention, but all ears will be on Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Clinton -- who as the headliner speaks last -- is expected to rally her supporters behind Sen. Barack Obama, poised to become the first black major-party presidential nominee.

By the time Clinton finishes her remarks, "we'll be united and fired up like a rocket," Terry McAuliffe, a top Clinton aide and fundraiser, told CNN.

A recent USA Today/Gallup poll showed fewer than 50 percent of Clinton supporters questioned planned to vote for Obama in November and 23 percent of those polled said they support Obama but "may change their minds before the election."

The theme for Tuesday is "Renewing America's Promise."

Delegates at the Pepsi Center in Denver also will hear a report from the Congressional Black Caucus, as well as speeches from state governors and several members of Congress.

Tuesday's America Town Hall on the economy will be moderated by Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm. The town hall features a four-person panel answering questions posed by people from across the nation.

Tuesday's list of speakers also includes several Republicans, such as Fairbanks, Alaska, Mayor Jim Whitaker, as well as an unemployed nurse and lifelong Republican from North Carolina.
