SAN ANTONIO - A well-rested San Antonio Spurs will host the defending NBA champion Detroit Pistons in Game 1 of the NBA finals on Thursday night.
The Spurs closed out the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference finals eight days ago, allowing them more rest than the Pistons, which had to wait until last Monday night to win their series against the Miami Heat.
The series matches up the league's top two defensive teams of the regular season. Both held their opponents to under 90 points per game and five players from the two clubs made the NBA's top-two All-Defensive teams.
Tip-off is set for 9:19 p.m. EDT.
