Knowshon Moreno scored the game-winning touchdown Saturday when second-ranked Georgia struggled to beat South Carolina, 14-7.
Moreno had 79 yards on 20 carries while Matt Stafford was 15-for-25 with 146 yards passing and 15 yards rushing for the Bulldogs (3-0, 1-0 SEC), who barely avenged last year's 16-12 loss to South Carolina.
Chris Smelley was 23-for-39 with 271 yards, one touchdown and one interception and Moe Brown caught seven passes for 130 yards and a touchdown for the Gamecocks (1-2, 0-2).
Georgia trailed 7-6 at halftime but got its lone TD in the third quarter when Moreno scored his seventh touchdown in three games on a 5-yard run to cap a drive that featured a 15-yard pass and a 30-yard run by Stafford.
