4 Pennies Commemorate Lincoln’s Birth
The U.S. Mint on Monday unveiled four pennies commemorating the bicentennial of the birth of President Abraham Lincoln, with the first in the series depicting the log cabin where he was born.
The other coins will depict the self-educated Lincoln studying while working as a rail splitter in Indiana; Lincoln as a lawyer in front of the Illinois State Capitol; and the construction of the U.S. Capitol dome during Lincoln’s term as the 16th American president. – The Associated Press
