British police in new terror raid, no arrests

LONDON (Reuters) - Police hunting those behind last week's London bomb blasts on Wednesday raided a residential address in the town of Aylesbury, about 40 miles northwest of the British capital.

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police Service, which is coordinating the hunt, denied a report by Sky News television that they had made a fresh arrest during in the raid.

"Officers from the MPS Anti-Terrorist Branch, supported by officers from Thames Valley Police, executed a search warrant issued under the Terrorism Act 2000 at one residential premises in Buckinghamshire on the evening of Wednesday 13th July.

"A detailed forensic examination is expected to be carried out and may take some time to complete. This is in connection with the ongoing investigation into the terrorist attacks in London on 7/7/05. No arrests," she said.

At least 52 people were killed by bombs set off by what are believed to have been British-based suicide bombers on three underground trains and a double-decker bus during the morning rush hour on Thursday last week.

Police raided several addresses connected to the bombers in the northern city of Leeds on Tuesday and arrested one man.

They searched two cars left at Luton train station 48 km (30 miles) north of London, finding some explosives.

Security experts said the four, the first suicide bombers to strike western Europe, would have received training and direction from a more senior militant for their attacks.
