vaccine outside U.S.,” please read in second paragraph, “Chiron
cut its supply … by about 8 million doses” instead of,
“Chiron cut its supply … to about 8 million doses.” Corrects
number of doses cut.
A corrected version follows.
CHICAGO (Reuters) – Chiron Corp., which had to scrap its
flu vaccine last season because of contamination problems in
its British plant, on Friday said it will supply less of its
Begrivac flu vaccine made in a German plant because of similar
Chiron cut its supply expectations for the vaccine by about
8 million doses and said it may delay shipments until early
October. Chiron had expected to supply about 12 million doses
to customers outside of the United States for the 2005-2006 flu
Chiron now expects to supply about 4 million doses of the
vaccine in these markets. The Begrivac vaccine is made at
Chiron’s facility in Marburg, Germany.
