Watson clinches Senior British Open in playoff

LONDON (Reuters) – Tom Watson won his second Senior British
Open by beating Ireland’s Des Smyth in a playoff at Royal
Aberdeen Golf Club on Sunday.
American Watson, a five-times British Open champion,
clinched the title at the third extra hole.
Watson and Smyth completed the 72 holes of regulation play
at four-under-par 280, Watson closing with a one-under 70 and
Smyth with a 67.
Watson won his first Senior British Open at Turnberry in
2003.
