Houston, TX (PRWEB) November 11, 2010
Internet LAVA, a Houston-based web development company, is proud to announce their sponsorship of the 2010 NORML Key West Legal Seminar. As a company that actively supports the overall goals of NORML and provides their services exclusively to legal professionals, Internet LAVA is excited to be a part of this special event.
The NORML Key West legal seminar is an annual legal conference that is fully accredited by all states that require Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits for practicing attorneys. The 2010 legal seminar will be held at the Pier House Resort and Caribbean Spa in Key West, FL on December 2-4, 2010. Attorneys from around the country will be discussing some important legal issues, including:
- Important new search and seizure decisions;
- Building a cannabis practice ethically while avoiding unethical pitfalls;
- Representing the poor and disenfranchised; and
- New statutes and guidelines in the federal sentencing process.
The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) is a non-profit, public-interest organization that provides a voice in the public policy debate for those Americans who oppose marijuana prohibition. NORML lobbies state and federal legislators to remove criminal penalties for the private possession, cultivation, and responsible use of marijuana by adults. NORML also serves as an informational resource for the news media and provides expert witnesses to assist in cases where individuals are charged with marijuana related offenses.
The NORML Legal Committee (NLC) is a group of lawyers throughout the United States who are dedicated to the same overall goals as NORML. NLC attorneys meet each year in Key West to discuss important legal issues related to defending marijuana consumers, and to support NORML by informing them of the current trends in law enforcement and judicial decisions regarding cannabis policies. Currently, more than 350 practicing attorneys belong to the NLC. By defending marijuana users and challenging inappropriate law enforcement activities, the NLC has been a major force in the fight against prohibition.
Why Key West for the annual conference? As quoted by Keith Stroup, NORML Founder and Legal Counsel, “We have been holding the annual December conference for more than 30 years. The NORML Legal Committee attorneys look forward to the Key West seminar each year because of the networking opportunities, with new and old friends who share the opposition to marijuana prohibition. In addition, a great set of speakers and important discussions on marijuana reform, in a relaxed environment. It’s an expression and celebration of personal freedom.”
Jason Miller, President of Internet LAVA, shares his perspective on the sponsorship, “We decided to sponsor the NORML Legal Seminar this year because it allows our company to publicly support NORML. The collaboration of so many brilliant legal minds will allow us to learn more about cutting edge issues important to criminal defense attorneys. We can use this knowledge to better market our clients who are interested in this area of the law. “
