American Hydrotech Launches Hydrology Tool for Calculating Overall Stormwater Management Benefits of Garden Roof® Assemblies

December 2, 2010

Technology offers design teams, engineers and landscape architects full, project-specific documentation to assess roof contributions in meeting both municipal and LEED stormwater requirements

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) December 1, 2010

American Hydrotech, a recognized leader in the development and distribution of premium waterproofing and roofing products, today announced the availability of an industry-first Hydrotech Hydrology Tool (HHT), providing architects, engineers, building owners and other members of the design team with full, project-specific reporting that contains an array of project-specific data to definitively document how a green roof assists in meeting overall stormwater requirements and goals.

The HHT aggregates project component performance data, integrates project-specific municipal/ LEED guidelines and then overlays a variety of “real life” retention and detention abilities such as site specific storm events and other unique regional climatic conditions. This comprehensive analysis allows the HHT to effectively calculate how a Garden Roof Assembly affects stormwater runoff volumes, the rate at which it slows water that does run off the roof, long term simulations and the potential for LEED compliance.

“As more municipalities are adopting green roofs as solutions for stormwater management, American Hydrotech recognized an urgent need to provides architects, engineers, building owners and other key stakeholders accurate and quantifiable information to deliver “Ëœproof of performance,’” said Edward Jarger, General Sales and Marketing Manager, American Hydrotech. “The Hydrotech Hydrology Tool calculates and documents the ultimate value and effectiveness of a Garden Roof Assembly for stormwater management in real time, all based on current localized storm data. Ultimately, the report equips design teams, owners, municipalities and other stakeholders with hard data to effectively demonstrate that a project’s design meets or exceeds LEED requirements.”

The HHT has been integral to the successful installation of Garden Roof Assemblies across the country including the Orlando Fire Station #1 (Orlando, FL), Palisades of Towson (Towson, MD) and the World Wildlife Fund Headquarters (Washington, DC).

The HHT report is administered and delivered by a trained Hydrotech Green Roof Professional in PDF format, along with a glossary of municipal terms and industry acronyms for easy reference.
