Former Porn Star Shelley Lubben to take center stage in debate with UK Porn Stars

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 18, 2011

Former Porn Star Shelley Lubben, whose recent book Truth Behind the Fantasy of Porn, is creating waves within the porn industry – has been invited to Cambridge University in the UK to debate the issue of pornography.

The groundbreaking, X-rated debate will take place at Cambridge University’s historic Bridge Street debating hall where Lubben will debate the merits of the porn industry, facing off against stripper / porn actor Johnny Anglais, who was suspended from his teaching job after his work as an adult entertainer was revealed, as well as Anna Arrowsmith, the UK’s first female adult movie director who once ran as a Liberal Democrat MP candidate.

The topic of the debate, which both Anglais and Arrowsmith support, is: “This house believes that pornography does a good public service.”

Lubben has seen the effects of the industry first hand and has detailed those accounts in her book and will be arguing against the industry.

“Porn is not glamorous. It destroys lives and is an industry of human trafficking and rampant sexually transmitted diseases that is destroying our nations and families of the world,” she said.

In addition to her book, Lubben also recently just launched her first rap music album, also called Truth Behind the Fantasy of Porn. The album is now available on iTunes and proceeds from that album go to Pink Cross Foundation. Pink Cross is a public charity dedicated to reaching out to adult industry workers offering emotional, financial and transitional support.

Incoming Cambridge Union President Lauren Davidson told Cambridge University student newspaper The Tab that she is in support of the debate and thinks pornography is a ‘hot topic’ in modern society.

‘The issue of pornography is prevalent in today’s society; it’s easily accessible online for people of any age, and seems to be increasingly covered in the news and on TV programmes,” she said.

Lubben, who starred in about 30 movies from 1993-94 and caught herpes and HPV while in the porn industry now serves as Executive Director of the Pink Cross Foundation saving men and women that are trapped in the porn industry. Lubben is also a leading advocate working tirelessly to expose the hazardous work conditions and the truth about the modern day porn slave trade.
