Britney Spears Album Debuts at No. 1

Britney Spears is in a zone, all right - and it's at the top of the album chart.
The pop star's sexy fourth album, "In the Zone," debuted at No. 1 with more than 609,000 copies sold in its first week, according to industry figures released Wednesday.
The disc, which contains the single "Me Against the Music" with Madonna, has received mixed reviews. It showcases an all-grown-up Britney, panting about her sex drive, her shopping sprees and her all-night partying.
The showing is a slight drop from the 21-year-old singer's last album, "Britney," which also debuted at No. 1 with 746,000 copies sold during its first week in November 2001. But it's less than half the sales of her second album, "Oops! ... I Did It Again," which sold a whopping 1.3 million in its first week in May 2000.
Meanwhile, Michael Jackson's "Number Ones" debuted at No. 13. But the child molestation allegations against the singer didn't seem to hurt his sales: Jackson's album sold about 121,000 copies, which is typical for a greatest hits collection.
Another new release, the self-titled disc from Blink-182, came in at No. 3 with more than 313,000 copies sold. And the Beatles' "Let It Be ... Naked," which strips the band's 1969 album of Phil Spector's lavish production effects, debuted at No. 5 with about 280,000 copies sold.
