President Bush has welcomed the San Antonio Spurs to the White House, with praise for their championship run.
The president and the NBA title-holders posed for pictures in the Rose Garden, Bush holding a souvenir Spurs jersey and clowning for the cameras with seven-foot center Tim Duncan.
The Spurs defeated the New Jersey Nets in six games in June to win their second basketball championship.
Bush said the Spurs players and coaches are champions on and off the court. He noted the anti-drug campaigning that coach Greg Popovich does in San Antonio, calling it a "class act."
