From a Child of Sharecroppers to Outer Space! Riley Martin Brings His Art to BLAST in Teaneck, NJ.
Howard Stern Show regular, Riley Martin, will be displaying his out-of-this-world art at BLAST. Riley’s art was transmitted to him directly from aliens, and now he is sharing it with the world.
Teaneck, NJ (Vocus/PRWEB) April 15, 2011
Riley Martin is an artist with an amazing story to tell. It all started in 1953, when an alien spaceship took a seven-year-old Riley to outer space. Riley’s second trip was when he was 18. Riley explains what occurred on that trip. “In 1975, the alien Tan fitted me with a kind of virtual reality headset, and 144,000 different symbol configurations were downloaded into my mind’s Neuron-Syntaxes. I am now in the process of setting these symbols to paper.” Eventually these symbols will serve as a ticket when the mother ship returns to airlift travelers from Earth unto a distant beautiful, un-polluted planet. One might consider this piece of art a ticket to the stars.
Many people are familiar with Riley and his amazing story through his many appearances on the Howard Stern Show. No matter how one feels about the truth of Riley’s tale, it is clear that Riley Martin had some sort of transcendent experience, and has dedicated his life to translating that experience into art. In this regard, Riley’s work fits in with such artists as William Blake and Alex Grey. Riley is a pure self-taught artist; the child of sharecroppers, and in this sense also fits into the tradition of outsider artists like Howard Finster and Henry Darger.
This is the second art show at BLAST in Teaneck, NJ. Riley will be speaking about his experience at 5, followed by an opening reception from 6-9 on May 7, 2012.
