Reclaiming the Truth of the Great Commission
Being representatives of God means more than pew-sitting, says book

When Jesus commissioned His church to carry on the work He had begun, He intended for His followers to do much more than meet once a week in padded pews. He intended the church to “turn the world upside down” as the apostles did. In his book Releasing God’s Government in the Earth ($14.99, paperback, 978-1-61215-545-6), author Duane Harder issues a call for Christians everywhere to be representatives of God’s government in all areas of life so that the whole earth will be filled with the knowledge and glory of God.
“We need to understand the nature of God’s government so we can effectively establish His rule in the earth,” says Harder, who has been a leader in the church for more than 50 years. “As believers we are instructed to proclaim the “Ëœgood news’ (gospel) of the kingdom.” During the summer of 1961, while serving as an intern at a Baptist church, Harder was prompted to do a study on the kingdom of God/kingdom of heaven. That study set him on a lifelong quest to know, understand, and effectively communicate the “gospel of the kingdom”"”or how the church is to reign in the earth.
With wisdom and grace, Harder leads readers through God’s view of government as it relates to the interconnectedness of self, family, business, and civil government, with a special emphasis upon church government. “Duane is a gifted teacher who presents an insightful analysis of government and those who carry it,” says Dr. Michael L. Hastings, a professor at Lethbridge College in Lethbridge, Alberta (Canada). “The principles taught provide a secure foundation as well as a set of boundary markers. His book is a treasure of insights.”
