The Pinnacle Schools-Flexible Summer Schedule Offered

May 17, 2011

The Pinnacle Schools are accepting summer session applications. Space is available but limited.

Huntsville, AL (PRWEB) May 15, 2011

The Pinnacle Schools are accepting summer session applications. Space is available but limited at both the Elk River and Huntsville, AL campuses, according to Amy Shaw, academic administrator for the Huntsville Campus, and Norm Sharp, academic administrator for the residential campus at Elk River Treatment Program.

Huntsville Campus

The Pinnacle Schools offer a private, year-round school for grades 6 -12.  Shaw says, “Our school offers an online high school experience that is supplemented by on-site teachers and tutors. We provide a cohesive community of students so that the online experience is neither isolating nor daunting.”

The school caters to students who are unable to focus in a large classroom setting and students who simply prefer the small setting we offer.  The school has a reputation of success with ADD/ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome students, among others.

Elk River Treatment Program (ERTP)

The Pinnacle Schools also offer an intense, [therapeutic program for troubled teens that provides the same year-round accredited academics in an outdoor residential setting. ERTP has successfully treated more than 370 students from 39 states as far away as California.  ERTP offers a flexible length of stay from two months to a year.  Since the program is individualized, there is no start date or end date so students can enroll the day after classes end at their home school and return the day before the next school year begins.

With year-round academics, Elk River Treatment Program offers more school days per year than a traditional school environment. This opportunity works well for students needing to recover credits or transition from block schedules to traditional semester schedules. Sharp says, “We believe that all students have the ability to learn. Due to our small, hands-on environment, we are very successful with students who have “given up” on school.”

The Pinnacle Schools offer two SACS CASI accredited curricula, with classes ranging from standard diploma courses to college preparatory, AP and honors courses.  We have all the basic core curriculum courses and offer several academically-based electives.  Our online teachers are trained specifically for on-line instruction and are fully certified in their teaching fields.  Most of our on-site staff hold State of Alabama teacher and administrator certifications and Master’s Level and higher degrees in their teaching fields.

Because The Pinnacle Schools offers a full range of core and elective courses in the summer as well as during the school year, students receive enrichment courses not covered in your typical summer school curriculum.  These courses, when successfully completed, transfer back as fully-sanctioned credits toward high school graduation requirements.
