ESG Raises the Bar for Asbestos Testing and Vermiculite Sampling

May 24, 2011

Environmental Services Group – http://www.environmentalservicesgroup.ca – introduces new company standard for detecting asbestos in Vermiculite and soil providing more accurate results than traditional testing

Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) May 23, 2011

Environmental Services Group (ESG) provides the highest quality in asbestos detection for Toronto and the GTA.

ESG recently made a company-wide decision, implementing a standard procedure for detecting asbestos fibre concentrations in Vermiculite sampling. The traditional preparation method for detecting fibres in vermiculite and soil (EPA method 600/R-93-116) is notoriously problematic; negative results can’t be guaranteed. Given the health hazards that asbestos can pose, inspectors can’t afford to only be right “sometimes.” ESG has decided to exclusively provide a more conclusive alternative to asbestos testing, eliminating that concern.

The new analysis method will include CARB 435 milling prep, which allows for proper quantification of asbestos in Vermiculite and soil. A process typically used to sample soils, it also proves highly effective for analyzing vermiculite that will put ESG’s sampling practices above and beyond the competition. More importantly, it will make the battle to find and eliminate harmful asbestos fibres from buildings in Toronto and the GTA more accurate. An alarming number of structures in the region are afflicted with “sick building syndrome” because of factors like asbestos, mold, poor ventilation, overuse of industrial chemicals and more.

Armed with unprecedented accuracy in its reports for asbestos sampling in vermiculite and soil, ESG is excited to exclusively utilize this method of sampling for asbestos in Vermiculite going forward. The standard use of the CARB 435 preparation method is just one of what should be many more innovations to come. ESG will continue to research and pursue state-of the art sampling and analysis procedures to improve indoor air quality (IAQ).
