Easy, Quick and Safe – UltraClean Carts’ New Product Takes 28 Seconds to Kill Shopping Cart Bacteria
Would you take 28 seconds to be assured that your shopping cart didn’t have E.Coli, Salmonella or Staph anywhere on it? The creators of UltraClean Carts are betting that most shoppers will, and that grocery store owners will be thrilled with their new product.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 25, 2011
UltraClean Carts has developed a system that kills up to 99.8% of bacteria commonly found on shopping carts with a 17 second blast of UV light. Ultraviolet light is an accepted method of disinfection, commonly used in water treatment, air conditioning, food handling and hospital sterilization. If it’s good enough for the operating room, it’s good for the grocery store shopper.
Recently, University of Arizona researcher Professor Charles Gerba swabbed 85 cart handles in four states and says 72% of the carts had a positive marker for fecal bacteria. When his researchers examined the samples, they found E. Coli on half of them. The study actually found more fecal bacteria on grocery cart handles than you would typically find in a bathroom, possibly because bathrooms are disinfected more often than shopping carts.
“We created UltraClean as a solution to a public health risk,” says Tom Taylor, CEO and Inventor of UltraClean Carts. “This meets a need for both the shopper and grocery store owners, quickly, safely and cost-effectively.”
Shoppers disinfect their own carts. They simply roll the empty basket into the module, press the start button and remove the cart once treatment is completed ““ just 28 seconds later.
For the Grocery Store Owner, there are many benefits, with minimal day to day costs. Among the benefits – no cost or hassle of disposing waste and no store labor to operate the system. Since the product is electric (estimated $1.34 cost to run per day), there is no special plumbing or drainage needed and no handling of cleaning materials, unlike other shopping cart cleaning systems on the market today.
UltraClean Carts was founded in 2009 and is headquartered in Southern California. They are currently rolling out this product nationwide to meet public demand. For further information, contact Tom Taylor at 714-392-7516.
