ViSalus Community and Partners Pledge over $100,000 in Aid to Joplin, Missouri

June 4, 2011

ViSalus Distributors answer the call to help those impacted by the devastating storms, along with contributions from The Blair Foundation and Goergen Foundation.

Joplin, MO (PRWEB) June 03, 2011

ViSalus is a company founded on the value of contribution, and powered by a Community committed to giving back whenever possible. While fortunate to have such passion for helping those in need, it is with heavy hearts that the ViSalus Community responds to the recent storms that have left the residents of Joplin, Missouri, rebuilding their lives.

Mere weeks after responding with aid to the residents of Western Alabama, the need for help grew as further disaster struck Joplin, leveling more than 8,000 homes and leaving 138 dead. The ViSalus Community leapt into action in support of the many in the area who are a part of the ViSalus family.

Kerri Sundy, an Ambassador with ViSalus, saw the devastation first-hand. “Some mornings I wake up in a panic because I know my world will never be the same,” Kerri said. “I struggle with the pain that my hometown has been ravaged by a natural disaster and so many of the folks I know are suffering significant loss.”

Kerri’s neighbor Jessica Rush, a National Director with ViSalus, is a nurse at one of the two hospitals left standing in Joplin. When the tornado struck, she went right to work, and didn’t return for over 24 hours.

“No matter how large our company gets, at the end of the day, we are a small family,” said ViSalus Co-Founder and CEO Ryan Blair. “We look after our own, and I am proud to be part of a Community that comes to the aid of others with such passion.”

Through the company’s Body by Vi Community Challenge, Co-Founder and 5-Star Ambassador Nick Sarnicola rallied team members from around the country to donate whatever they could to relief efforts. ViSalus pledged in turn to match those donations and provide meal-replacement shakes for families in need of the basics of food and water.

“When something like this happens, it isn’t a decision what to do, but merely how quickly can you do what’s right,” said Sarnicola. “The incredible support surpassed even my own expectations, and I feel so lucky to be in a position to help those in need.”

In addition to meal-replacement shakes provided by the ViSalus Community and match by the company, additional aid and supplies will be provided by two generous partners who share a passion for the ViSalus Family. The Blair Foundation, led by ViSalus CEO Ryan Blair, has also pledged addition aid, along with The Goergen Foundation, led by the family behind Blyth, Inc., parent company to ViSalus.

Kerri Sundy and other ViSalus Leaders will be distributing the meals, waters, and other goods Saturday, June 4th, throughout Joplin, not stopping until they have helped every family they can.
