Top Ten Air Purifiers for 2011 by AllergyBuyersClub.com

June 7, 2011

AllergyBuyersClub.com, a leading internet retailer of healthy home products for allergy relief, has named its top ten choices for air purifiers for 2011. The company has been testing home air purifiers since 1998 and its recommendations and ratings are used as a source of material all over the web.

Braintree, MA (PRWEB) June 06, 2011

Choosing an air purifier can be a dizzying task for the average consumer. There are a plethora of models and manufacturers, and unfortunately for the unwary consumer, many air purifiers are all hype and provide the allergy and asthma sufferer with very little benefit.

AllergyBuyersClub.com has been testing home air purifiers since 1998 and its findings are used as a source of material all over the web. The company’s philosophy has always been that no product is perfect, even amongst the best, and that pluses as well as minuses need to be communicated to customers before they purchase. Nevertheless, there are some air purifiers that do an outstanding job and AllergyBuyersClub.com has named its top 10 choices for 2011 as well as some very commendable runners up.

The Top Ten Winners

IQAir Air Purifiers. A king amongst princes and while other air purifier manufacturers may nip at their heels, in the end, IQAir reigns supreme. Put simply, this manufacturer has done everything right and when the AllergyBuyersClub.com staff are asked to recommend the best air purifier for someone with serious allergy and asthma problems, it is the IQAir first. When they tested these air purifiers virtually nothing escaped their HyperHEPA filter. This is very important as lung penetrating particles are smaller than even a regular HEPA filter can capture. Packed with superior technological features such as a huge capacity pre-filter, filter change indicator lights, a HEPA filter efficiency rating second to none and six fan-speed settings, IQAir air purifiers are as good as it gets. The IQAir HealthPro Plus at $899 is named the Category Winner as the all around best air purifier and the IQAir MultiGas at $1149 gains the #2 spot as the best all around odor and gas air purifier.

Airfree Air Purifiers. This is one of the very few air purifier manufacturers that are not based around a HEPA filter and still passed muster. In fact, Airfree models have no filters at all, relying instead on a unique patented technology for the sterilization and incineration of allergens. Thus there is no maintenance costs associated with any Airfree model. However, Airfree is not recommended for serious gas and odor removal and household dust is not reduced – but your allergies will subside. For innovative technology, attention to research and cost effectiveness, the Airfree Onix at $299 gained the #3 spot.

Blueair Air Purifiers. A long time favorite with both the AllergyBuyersClub.com staff and customers, Blueair combines ionizer, electrostatic, carbon and HEPA type filter technologies which result in a very high filtration effectiveness and no external ozone. They gained very high marks for their ability to deliver large amounts of purified air, as certified by AHAM, at a very low noise level. This also makes them a top choice for a bedroom air purifier. Filter changes are exceptionally easy and with recent upgrades to include filter life monitoring, this manufacturer is still managing to keep ahead of its competition. The Blueair 600 series with HEPASilent filters start at $699 gained the #4 spot as a first rate all around allergy or asthma air purifier.

Airpura Air Purifiers. This manufacturer has shot up the charts in the AllergyBuyersClub.com air purifier favorite’s category. They have done almost everything perfectly except for making it difficult to change filters and lacking a filter change monitor. Otherwise, Airpura has learned from the mistakes of others and does a first class job at producing air purifiers which are carefully tailored to a variety of special needs, and all for a very fair price. Each of their three filters are of excellent quality and what is unique, is the air purifier units are modular and can be refigured if your application needs to change at a later date. It is in their special applications that they really shine such as the Airpura Pet V600 and Airpura Smoke T600 models which attained the #5 and #6 spots respectively. Starting at $599.98.

Winx PlasmaWave Air Purifiers. They are a relatively new manufacturer for AllergyBuyersClub.com, but one which they find very impressive. Winix air purifiers are well made with a pleasing space saving design, easy filter changes, some nice auto monitoring features, fairly quiet and are Energy Star compliant. Best of all, they offer above average performance in air filtration. These are well worth looking at since the price is a knockout for what is being offered. AllergyBuyersClub.com would not recommend them for serious gas and odor removal. The Winix Plasmawave 9500 got their #7 spot at $299.95.

Humanscale Air Purifiers. This is a new air purifier manufacturer for AllergyBuyersClub.com, but the company behind it has been around for a long time. While this company currently only offers one air purifier, its Personal Zone Air Purifier offers a near perfect clean air bubble around your breathing zone, which the testing team at AllergyBuyersClub.com thinks has tremendous applications in both bedrooms and for your desk at work. Not recommended for serious gas and odor removal. At $299 it is modestly priced.

Whirlpool Air Purifiers. AllergyBuyersClub.com offers a subset of Whirlpool air purifiers and cherry picked the best ones for the consumer with allergies. What they liked about the ones they selected is that these air purifiers offer excellent filtration efficiency and sizable room coverage at a very affordable price. AllergyBuyersClub.com does not recommend them for serious gas and odor removal. The Whirlpool Whispure 510 at $299 garnered the #9 spot.

Airgle Air Purifiers. The Airgle 750 is in AllergyBuyersClub.com’s opinion one of the most overlooked air purifiers that they offer. This is a manufacturer who does not have a slew of products but what they offer in the 750 is noteworthy. This air purifier is certified by AHAM to have one of the most air changes per hour, it has a good amount of carbon, and perfect air filtration efficiency, garnering one of the few 5 Star awards that AllergyBuyersClub.com gives to its products. Priced at $799.

The Runners Up

Since it was actually hard to pick just only 10 air purifiers, AllergyBuyersClub.com has included the best of the rest.

Austin Air Air Purifiers are extremely popular with AllergyBuyersClub.com customers. They offer a no nonsense, no frills approach to air purification and put their money into what really counts; very good gas and odor filtration and above average particle filtration. They lost points for combining their gas and HEPA filters as these filters degrade at a different pace than each other. Like AllerAir and Airpura, Austin’s filters are difficult to change requiring a screwdriver and turning the machine upside down. But none the less, for consumers with serious allergy problems they are high up on our air purifier runners up list. The Austin Air Bedroom at $649.99 is a fairly quiet machine with better filtration than their prior models.

AllerAir Air Purifiers. AllerAir air purifiers rank really well because of their filtration efficiency. They have three substantial filters (Pre, HEPA and Carbon), and cover a lot of ground when needed. Some of their air purifier models are Multiple Chemical Sensitivity friendly in their design. Their medical grade HEPA filter is excellent quality. Unfortunately, their effective basic design has some drawbacks since their filters are tougher to change than average and they lack some of the bells and whistles of some of their competitors, such as an easy to change pre-filter and filter change monitoring. The AllerAir air purifiers start at $599.98 but the AllerAir AirMedic Plus model is AllergyBuyersClub.com’s choice.

Alen Air Purifiers have been gaining ground very fast with AllergyBuyersClub.com customers and for good reason. They have wisely positioned themselves as providing a good value air purifier for the consumer. They have neat designs, above average filtration effectiveness, quiet operation, very easy filter changes, low energy consumption and a lifetime warranty. They are not recommend for serious gas and odor removal, but for an all purpose air purifier starting at $599, the Alen A375U air purifier is well worth a look.
