Co-pilot alive when Cyprus airliner crashed

August 16, 2005

ATHENS (Reuters) – The co-pilot of a Cyprus airliner was
alive when the plane crashed, killing all 121 on board, the
chief coroner of the investigation Philippos Koutsaftis said on
Tuesday.

“All the autopsies on victims carried out so far, including
on the co-pilot, showed they died of their injuries meaning
they were alive when the plane crashed,” Koutsaftis told
reporters.

The Helios Airways Boeing 737 crashed into mountains near
Athens on Sunday killing all 115 passengers and six crew on a
flight from Larnaca to Prague with a stop in Athens.
