Gunmen kill oil security official in Iraq
August 30, 2005
KIRKUK, Iraq (Reuters) – Gunmen have killed a security
official in Iraq’s North Oil Company and a companion traveling
with him in a car, a police source said on Tuesday.
The killing on Monday night appeared to be part of a
campaign to undermine Iraq’s oil industry, the biggest source
of income for the U.S.-backed government.
Insurgents have also blown up pipelines in their bid to
topple Iraq’s new leaders.
