BAGHDAD (Reuters) – Two improvised bombs killed five U.S.
army soldiers patrolling near the Iraqi town of Baiji on
Saturday, and wounded another five, the U.S. military said.
The soldiers were from the 101st Airborne Division, the
military said.
Baiji is 180 km north of Baghdad.
The incident brings the number of U.S. forces killed in
Iraq since the March 2003 invasion to at least 2,089.
Earlier on Saturday the U.S. military said a second soldier
had died from wounds sustained in a November 17 attack, also
near Baiji.
