Gunmen fire outside Gaza security office: witnesses
January 3, 2006
GAZA (Reuters) – Gunmen opened fire on Tuesday outside a
Gaza security office and accused Palestinian officials of
arresting a colleague on suspicion of involvement in the
kidnapping of three Britons last week, witnesses said.
The shooting in the town of Rafah erupted minutes after
witnesses said a member of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades
suspected of involvement in the abduction was seized on a
street and forced into an unidentified vehicle.
The three hostages, human rights worker Kate Burton and her
parents, were freed on Friday after two days in captivity. They
were seized by a previously unknown group that called itself
the Brigades of the Mujuhideen-Jerusalem.
