BEVERLY HILLS, California (Reuters) – “Brokeback Mountain”
was named the best film drama at the Golden Globe Awards on
Monday, giving the gay romance a major boost on the road to the
March 5 Oscars.
“Brokeback,” a story of two lonely cowboys in love, beat
McCarthy-era drama “Good Night, and Good Luck,” African-based
thriller “The Constant Gardener,” gangster tale “A History of
Violence” and Woody Allen’s look at life among Britain’s upper
classes, “Match Point.”
Winners of Golden Globe Awards, which are given by the
Hollywood Foreign Press Association, often go on to win Oscars,
the U.S. film industry’s top awards from the Academy of Motion
Picture Arts and Sciences.
