Seven killed in Florida school bus crash

MIAMI (Reuters) - Seven people were killed and three others
seriously injured on Wednesday when a school bus and a
tractor-trailer collided in north Florida, a police dispatcher

The accident happened on State Road 121 about four miles
south of Lake Butler in rural Union County, about 50 miles
southwest of Jacksonville.

"A school bus and a tractor-trailer collided, killed seven.
Three (others) are bad off," said Florida Highway Patrol
Officer David Sheldon, a dispatcher in Jacksonville.

Asked if the dead were students, Sheldon said "it appears
so, yes."

"I don't know if they were stopping to let kids off. I can
only imagine," he said.

Rescue helicopters were sent to the scene, he said.
