Two former senior Saddam aides to testify in trial
February 13, 2006
BAGHDAD (Reuters) – The former head of Saddam Hussein’s
office and a former top intelligence official were expected to
testify in the toppled Iraqi leader’s trial on Monday, a court
source said.
The source said Ahmed Khudayir, who ran Saddam’s office,
and Hassan al-Obeidi, the former chief of foreign intelligence,
were expected to testify.
Prosecutors are hoping former senior officials who served
under Saddam will help them establish a chain of command that
proves the ousted leader was directly involved in atrocities.
It’s not clear if Saddam, who has staged a boycott of the
trial, will appear in court on Monday.
