A roadside bomb exploded Saturday west of Baghdad, killing two American soldiers, the U.S. military said.

The attack occurred north of Fallujah, 50 miles west of Baghdad, in the so-called Sunni Triangle, a center of anti-American resistance, according to the military command.

The convoy belonged to Task Force All-American, which includes elements of the 82nd Airborne Division and other units. The command did not specify what unit was involved.

The latest deaths brought to 509 the number of American service members who have died since the United States and its allies launched the Iraq war March 20. Most of the deaths have occurred since President Bush declared an end to major combat May 1.
