Armed man takes children hostage in French school

NANTES, France (Reuters) – An armed man took 18 pupils and
two others hostage in a school in western France on Thursday,
local officials said.

It was not clear what weapon the man was carrying, said a
spokesman for local authorities in Sable-sur-Sarthe in western
France. The official did not say what demands the man had made.
